HY Realty won the tender for One Bernam following the launch by URA in 2019. Together with MCC Land, the developer is set to develop One Bernam into an enviable residence with plenty of facilities for the residents.

The CBD has mainly served as Singapore’s commercial and financial hub for the longest part. According to the URA 2019 Master Plan and the 2030 Concept Plan, things are about to change. The city centre is under an improvement program that will make it more lively and not the dominant commercial space it is.
Parts of Tanjong Pagar will be redeveloped in the future Greater Southern Waterfront project which covers many areas along Singapores’ southern coastline. It stretches from Pasir Panjang to Bay East. The development of this massive project is expected to kick off in 2030 and be completed in phases.
More particularly, the area rebound Tanjong Pagar is set to be expanded into triple the size of Marina Bay. The future residents of One Bernam will benefit from the upcoming commercial amenities along the coastline.
• Addition of more private and public housing units in the area.
• Refurbishment and addition of more office spaces.
• Increase in mixed-use developments to allow live, work, and play.
• Connectivity will improve with the addition of four MRTS; Shenton, Maxwell, Cantonment, and Price Edward.
• Introduction of a 5km cycling path to link with the 22km network around the downtown. This will improve commutes.
Once these rejuvenation plans are realised, One Bernam residents can look forward to a transformed neighbourhood ideal for a contemporary lifestyle. The enhanced transportation system will improve commutes and access to amenities for the residents.
Tanjong Pagar is located in the southern end of downtown Singapore. This former fishing village best capture’s Singapore’s transformation into the vibrant city-state it is today. Tanjong Pagar was once a sleepy fishing village and its name, a Malay word that means ‘’cape of stakes” reflects its original state. The kelongs for fishing that were situated here inspired the area’s name.
Tanjong Pagar has undergone various changes over the years while conserving its rich history and culture. Today, the area is a critical part of the city. It houses a blend of cultural residential and commercial properties. Tanjong Pagar also ranks among the top and advanced container ports. Parts of it have been marked for development under the Greater Southern Waterfront Project.
Prior to the arrival of the British, fishing was the main activity here. In the early 19th century, sea nomads or Orang Laut and Chinese inhabitants started occupying the areas between the city and the docs. In 1904, a rickshaw station was built to serve the wealthy customers working at the port.
Because of the area’s fertile soil, and the hilly terrain, the early settlers started farming fruits, nutmeg, and gambier before the 1950s. Fishing and farming remained the key activities for a long time with little improvement in the living conditions.
The future is even promising with plenty of developments in the pipeline. Tanjong Pagar is set to be transformed under the Greater Southern Waterfront project to about three times Marina Bay, in size. The plans will be undertaken under the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s Master Plan program. That means the residents can look forward to improved access to lifestyle amenities of different kinds.
